Steve at KFCB-TV, Concord CA, 1987

Steven J. Kline -- January 22, 1964 - December 26, 2008

After a prolonged illness, Steve passed away peacefully at Seton Medical Center in Daly City, CA. Members of his family were by his side and hoped that he felt comforted by their presence. Steve was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grew up in the Midwest. Growing up in the Midwest provided him with many opportunities which included a love of motorcycles, playing the trombone, canoeing, and attending the University of Iowa. He had many friends, some of whom shared his passion for restoring and riding motorcycles.

In 1986 after college, Steve followed his family to California. Steve was a longtime resident of Pacifica, CA, where the ocean he loved was just steps away from his home. Looking out his windows at the Pacific Ocean was truly a joy and comfort to him.

Steve worked for several local television stations (KTSF, KFCB, and KRON) as an operations technician for over 20 years. He was technical director of KTSF's coverage of the San Francisco Chinese New Year parade for 18 years. His co-workers remember him for his sense of humor, patience, and willingness to teach. He was an expert in his field and took great pride in his work.

Steve is survived by his parents Reverend Harrison and Maxine Kline; his older brother Alan and wife Sharon; his younger brother Christopher and wife Robin; and his uncle Alan Hamilton. Steve was a devoted and loving son and a wonderful brother. He was a beloved member of the Kline family and will be missed for his sharp wit, intelligence, and kindness.

Family and friends are invited to join us at 11am on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, CA 94014. The Memorial Service will begin at 12 noon. There will be a simple reception following the service next to the chapel from 1pm to 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the Kline family requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to the American Liver Foundation, or to the National Kidney Foundation.
